Michael Norman | June 24, 2010 @ 9:03pm | We regret to pass on the news of the death on June 3rd and funeral (June 23rd) of Mike Norman, which had been reported in the Chronicle of 10th followed by an obituary on 17th June.
Mike, although not a member, was well know by many of us as, amongst other things, being the person that engraved all the club silverware including the John Player Cup. He was a fellow of the National Association of Goldsmiths and in that capacity designed the trophy for the snooker championships held in this country. He was responsible for engraving the trophies of many other sporting events.
The four passions of his life were his garden, Bath Rugby, his work as a silversmith and Cricket at Lansdown where he spent 45 years as a player, umpire and President. He always said his work was not work at all but a just another pleasure in life. He leaves a brother and sister and his partner of 13 years Ann Howard and her son Christopher and his children, to whome we send our deepest condolances. |
